Evolution x

I was given a copy of Evo X on a CD (ISO 9660(mode 1) to try out.The only instructions were to convert it to a UDF/ISO 9660(mode 1) and it shoud load into my X box. No problems in converting using Record now, but the X box does not recognise it as a vlaid disc.(The box is chipped). So I tried the same on a DVD disc & same thing.
On another note, can anyone give me some clues on obtaining gdfimage file.
Any ideas
Thanks Agarn

Can you see the files on the original CD that the Evo X came on?

A program called xISO will read an xbox disk and convert it so it can be read in both the PC and the Xbox. It will also burn a 100% compliant image for you as well. You can find it here (it's freeware):

http://www.yursoft.cjb.net/

The site isn't in english but you should be able to work it out. Click where it says "XBOX" on the top right and that will take you to the download page.

With regards to your GDFImage question - you can download "GNU GDFImage" from the same place that you get xISO. Hopefully that will do the trick.

If you still have probs try finding a prebuilt ISO or using different brands of CD-RW or DVD-rw. X-box dvd drives seem to prefer rw disks depending on what model xbox you have. My version 1.0 booted 1st time from a downloaded (prebuilt) ISO burned on datastream brand cd-rw with nero.

Hope that helps

Thanks guys for the reply, sorry I have'nt been back to you.Anyway he is where I'm up to.
Ad100, The Evo Dashbord files were given to me on a normal CD,& I can read them on my computer ok.Tried to convert them to an ISO file & this is where I must be doing it wrong.
Using record now
Add the files from the disc
Modify Desination Disk
Change the root to \*.*
Record mode 1
File system type UDF-up to 128 in file length plus 8+3 tree (bridge)
Cut to DVD-R ( also tried CDRW)

The X box does not recognise it as a valid disc
It would be nice to get pass stage one,but I'm still trying. My sons X bos is a version 1 (chipped)
Any ideas

If you load the files into xISO it will build a 100% compliant Xbox ISO for you.

hehe - my spanish isn't too good either. The only spanish I know is "TACO"

Try burning out the created ISO with a different program like Nero or Disc Juggler.

The only other thing I can suggest is that you just dump the files to your xbox via a network.

But don't you need evox to ftp to the xbox?

Agarn, that error message may mean somthing is amiss with your aspi driver (or is it layer?) you could try updating them (try google)

You could have did what i did once by selecting the source files wrong. Try copying the files from the cd to say c:\bootdisk. Then in xiso select make iso, double click c: then click ONCE on the bootdisc folder and hit OK.

It also could just be a stuff-up by xISO itself. Make sure you get a message like "Image created succesfully" or something similar. It took me 4 tries to make a working iso when i did my boot disk twice it seemed to hang and then created a dodgy image that was too small.

if you still don't have any luck, you might be able to get *someone* to email an iso to you (its larger than 1.5 Mb tho) let us know how you go

I am definately no expert when it comes to Xbox but I thought that you just FXPed it across using the PC. Mind you I haven't tried it with a new Xbox as it already had EvoX on it when I got it and I have only used FXP to update it

Most likely xISO would not support the A06, which is why you should create the ISO with xISO and then burn it with some other program that would support your A06 (like Nero or Disc Juggler). It will save you having to update your ASPI layer.
