Thanks guys for the replies,I have been given another copy of an earlier verson of Evox & I will try that.I agree with the conflict with my burner & XISO.Tried with nero to burn the image that XISO created & no luck.Regarding connecting to the Xbox I can not do it untill a external dashbord is loaded.Talk about the chicken or the egg.The other option is to get a copy of a working Evox that will boot in the X box.Or am I not booting the disk correctly. Also it has been suggested to use anothe program eg. Slayer Evox.Has anyone else used this program?.
Any ideas?.

Once again guys thanks for the replys,I think that my starting point is getting the Xbox to boot to the disk & not starting up in it's own mode.Being a non gamer, just a dad who told his son " I can do backups",all he knows is you put a disk in & it plays.
Is there a certain way to get the box to boot to the disk?.
To recap,I have tried Slayer Evox,Evo X & made a disk but just says no go.Both disks on my PC says it's an iso but can't be open,I guess the files are ok.I gather that you can not network the Xbox untill a external dashboard is installed.
Any clues?.

Just had a thought, when the xbox boots it looks for a file called "xboxdash.xbe" wereas exov is
usually called "evoxdash.xbe" or similar, try renaming this file to xboxdash.xbe, rebuild with xISO and reburn.
You could also try burning to CD-rw rather than DVD-r, just remember to select disk at once, close the session, and burn it Slooooooowly

Good luck and godspeed.

Thanks fez000 for the reply,I checked my PC copy of Evox ( before converting it to ISO) & it has a file evoxdash.xbe & xboxdash.xbe so maybe the box is booting to the xboxdash.xbe .
Maybe if you let me ramble on a little bit about booting a computer. When a computer first powers on it checks its bios settings & then logical drives, depending on bios setting goes to the hard drive to find a system. From what I can see,the Xbox on power up checks its bios, finds its system & waits for any instructions eg.disk loaded.
So loading in a disk with an .xbe how can it reboot?
I know once evox or any other dashboard is in the bios we have access to all the files.
