thanx, i found out it's actually called ALX2+.
I found some info on a UK site and bought it-Mainly because it had a read-only backup BIOS incase everything went to s*&@ and you can boot to the original M$ bios if i want to get on live some day. The install was relativly painless (desoldering the LPC vias was a bit of a bastard) and it worked first go (woot!)

More info here if anyone is interested

I have installed two of these mod chips. I have found them to work flawlessly and haven't had any problems with back up games or playing from the hard drive.
The only problem I had was soldering the wire to the power switch.......which broke of the resistor from the pcb.....rendering the xbox inoperable.....doh.

But that was installer error not the chip. I would recommend the chip to anyone even though it is a bit more expensive than other chips.
