where the hell do you get that information from itbytes? your ass i'd say.
I have two boxes here, one with a cheapmod variant installed by a local wollongong installer and one I exploited with oo7auf and loaded PBL onto.
What the software does is exploit a flaw in the fonts files of the xbox hard drive to allow unsigned code to be ran, therefore PBL loads up a modchip (software) bios file of your choice and then boots upto whatever dash you have installed.
where do you get this speed loss from? I think you're perhaps a bit jealous that any old nobody with a memory card and a game can modchip their xbox without voiding warranty, hence you losing money from installs..
I've been running software mod on my 2nd box and all of my relatives now have software mod..before you crack the sads about my statements, you should probably use the softmod as it does EVERYTHING i repeat .... EVERYTHING any modchip can do.
you can put a bigger hdd in if you want but that of course will always void the warranty, installation of bigger hdd's is easy as pie!

if you aren't a fan of the softmod solution, you can always just flash your xbox TSOP (its the same as a mod chip)
and about the original MSDASH/Bios, with a software mod it doesnt touch your TSOP so you have everything still intact at the press of the control pad you go back to original bios/dashboard
