New Kid on the Block

Hi there! Just learning about all this stuff so would be grateful for some basic advice. I have been told to get a Nokia DBOX2 Dbugged(?)

I have N@L cable. If I buy one of these boxs will it just plug and play? Also, I do not use a windows PC, I use a Mac. Is this an issue?
