Why movies recorded now take so much space?

Hi mates
Have noticed, that starting from some time in the last 2-3 months maybe, recorded movies on hdd occupy about 6-7Gb (2 hours movie) and time shown is double time of movie ( when movie plays, time decreases by 2 sec)
So double space on hdd is relarted to double time (physycal time of course correct)

This effect is image independent
Do you know something about this?

it's probably better quality broadcast or perhaps includes more audio tracks? Could be the programme is HD or dolby digital, it is higher bit rate ;o)

Capture for 5 minutes and use ProjectX to analyse the bitstream for you. I'm not sure whether I can post the link but you can look it up with Google with keyword
doom9 dot net and search for "project X"

Yes, that would be a way to find out... I think you can also see this information on VLC statistics.

I don't think dreambox does anything with the stream it gets from the sattelite. It just save it to a file, ya?
