ACA plans to introduce new rural zoning

The Australian Communications Authority (ACA) is considering the introduction of new standard zones in remote and rural areas which ware not currently zoned. The measure would improve a situation in which there are customers only 5 km apart paying long distance rates because they have been assigned to different zones, said acting ACA chairman Bob Horton. Comments on the plan must be submitted by 11 May 2004.
