Changing between NTSC and PAL automatically

Hi,
I have been having a nightmare trying to find a DVD/HDD recorder that can record both NTSC and PAL - there are a few such as the Panasonics. However - I need one that will automatically change between NTSC and PAL........
An example being - if I go out and want to record at 6pm from Freeview/PAL and then 9pm from my satellite receiver/NTSC then I wouldnt obviously want to rush home at 8pm to change the settings from PAL to NTSC.......I would spend my life in the menu changing this all the time.
If anyone knows of any that will automatically change between the 2 then please let me know.....?
The other option is to buy an NTSC converter......something between the satellite receiver (NTSC) and HDD recorder that would change the signal from NTSC to PAL60 or whatever...........this I think would be expensive though!
Thanks

Re: Changing between NTSC and PAL automatically

Maybe Panasonic or the other manufacturer of DVD recorder will come up with the goods soon.
I had this problem about 5 years ago,got a Pal-NTSC converter but now most boxes like the Strong 48xx you can set the picture mode in either Pal,NTSC or Multi.
I got this problem now coz my folks Panasonic DVD recorder and my NEC DVD recorder only records in Pal mode,I made enquiries about it but no development yet.

Thats an interesting comment as Panasonic told me the other day that all there dvd recorders both have RF Modulators (unlike others) AND can record in NTSC........maybe this is something they do now and not in the past though as you never mentioned the age of the Pani machine!

I am almost certain that I will buy an NTSC to PAL converter now - £100 I would rather not have to spend but seems the most viable option!
