Irdeto 2

Is IRDETO 2 going to replace Irdeto 1 or are they going to run simultaneously?

If are talking about the Pay channels on B3 then apart from the some testing there is no indication that Irdeto2 will be used at all. Foxtel have just announced they will be using NDS's VideoGuard system and as for Austar, well they don't have money to burn..
While it seems Irdeto 1 and 2 can co-exist in the same datastream, any provider that has switched to the later system has done so quickly, turning off the Irdeto1 signal sooner, rather than later.

I have a question,

If B3/C1 will encrypt in NDS for Fox and Austar will not make the change but the satellite will use Simulcrypting, and because of the fact that Austar has only enough money to turn some light switches on, whos to say Irdeto 1 wont be the encryption system they use for the next couple of years?

Another thing I seem to beleive now more than ever ImpacTV or whatever they are changing their name to will also be using their three and a half transponders via B3/C1 and according to their early posts ImpacTV will use Irdeto 2...

Do you think its possible NDS, Irdeto 1 and Irdeto 2 will all be used thru the stream?

If they can wait that long.. You will have to ask Craig.

Of course it's possible, whether they will need/want to is another question..

Austar will be offering pay tv to Hobart residents via sat from June.

It has been previously unavailable via sat in southern Tassie.

That gives some indication of the timing of C1.

No idea about the coding, but will try and find out. Only really need to find out what hardware they are handing to clients to figure out what encryption is being used.

Cheers,

Theres a work around for any encryption, those gurus out there never cease to amaze me, although skeptical its very likely that any encoding system will be broken so long theres enough time for work to be made on it and that theres enough enthusiasts willing to test it out, anything made by man can be broken by man its just the way it has been and always will be.

NDS for Foxtel and Irdeto 1 it seems for Austar, Simulcrypting has worked all over europe and will work again for us...

There are interesting times ahead but as once feared those people wanting ALL the channels may still very well get them all, time will tell I guess..

Cheers.
