TARBS gone Bankrupt

Hi All,

I have just had confirmation from the people at TARBS that the company is in receivership and they have stopped transmitting. Does anyone know anything about this and whether the channels they were transmitting are going to be retransmitted by another carrier, eg Foxtel?

Is there anywhere were I can get the the Greek and Turkish channels free ie is anyone transmitting these stations free, no subscription required?

Any knowledge would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Karabelf

No foxtel is not looking into adding tarbs to its line up because if it wanted it they would of already had the channels in there line up as they already have antenna and rai which they pay World Media for the rights to broadcast them

Cool Lets start our own..

Anyone have any spare cash ??

What a great opportunity to buy out TARBS for a wee fee of $28,000,000 (USD) and we can start our own PayTV service.

For Sale..
---------
The company is based in Pyrmont and specialises in ethnic channels with a customer base of approximately 57,000 billable subscribers, serviced by 200 staff. TARBS broadcasted to Australian subscribers (until 7 July 2004 ) via a transponder lease arrangement with PanAmSat Corporation, a US based satellite provider. PanAmSat, which is owed in excess of USD 28 million under a senior secured note, is a secured creditor and holds fixed and floating charges over TARBS companies.

What you get..
---------------
The Receivers have sought offers in respect of any or all of the assets of TARBS, which include:

Subscription Customer List
TARBS’ interest in Radiocommunications Apparatus Licences: four Space Licences, five Earth Licences and one Earth Receive Licence
TARBS’ interest in channel and program agreements
TARBS’s interest in set top units, subscriber satellite dishes, remote controls and smartcards

The deadline for submission of offers expired at 5pm on Friday 9 July 2004.
The Receivers are currently reviewing offers received.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, if we all chip in $50.00 each and buy it outright and then list on the stock exchange (ASX) to raise further capital. We would be proud owners of our own PayTV service.

Imagine, we have 57,000 customers already and waiting for their service.
Assuming we charged the least price of $40.00 a month (normally between $40.00 and $62.95) times this by 57,000 customers would provide an income of $2,280,000 per month minimum!

Calculate employee's wages and rent and you would still have $1,000,000 left over in the bank.
The question is, how much do PanAmSat charge to use their services?

Regards,
Moses.
