Now that TARBS is gone, What to do with box

Hello,

I was a TARBS subscriber, now I have a blank Mentor box and a dish. I type in frequencies for other sattelites but the box keeps showing the TARBS channels. How do I change it, and what are my options with this box?

Ah, that can probably mean you have not removed your old TARBS card; if that's the case, please do so and then try again; if it still continues to show the TARBS presets, then try tuning each channel you want (from the other satellites) manually (SR, VPID, APID etc) rather than an autoscan with the home transponder. You definitely should have no problem getting any of the unscrambled freebies, especially GlobeCast and the new unscrambled ABC and SBS channels from the West (also on B3). Also, if your dish is strong enough you should also have no problem picking up the "raw" versions of WIN WA and GWN, which are also in the clear via the smaller coastal beam on B3. With the TARBS collapse, expect to see at least a dozen more international freebies on the B3 GlobeCast service over the next few months, and a few of the pay-channels that were on TARBS as well, some of which will become freebies while for the rest you may need a new I2 box and card (from GlobeCast) as well as an ongoing subscription. Good luck.
