weak signal on Austar ??

Hi

I had an Austar service at my house up until a few months ago <G> However, now I do not have my old Austar Box so I convinced my mum to get an extra box with her subscription.

I bought it over here and set it up but I get a really weak signal (35-45) and its not enough to get any channels :-(

Ive tried both lnb freq. and on one I get the weak signal and on the other I get nothing.

The box is a fairly new box and it works fine at my mums place.

I have not moved my dish and the cable is cnnected firmly.

Does anyone have any ideas what it might be causing this.. Very frustrating because ive paid a month for an extra box plus installation at my mums place and cant get the stupid thing to get any channels over here.

Please help ....

thanx
Pookie

Yep, I have another stb and card.

I dont have another lnb I can try because its just the dish and lnb from when I had my old subscription setup here ages ago. But i use to use the dish with an older box and goldcard and it worked fine.

Just cant get this stupid thing to get any stronger signal than 45 :-(

i dont think the dish would be out of alignment as they are screwed down tight,it seems more like the lnb is faulty, the lnb can shit itself at any time

What you are saying is that you can't get pictures with that amount of signal. Don't know if this is applicable to Austar, however Foxtel are now using LNB 10700 check your decoder settings, it may be set the same as Fox.
You will need to change the LNB settings to 11300 and this should result in pictures

It will only allow me to choose between 2 lnb freq and I have tried both. The box runs fine at my mums place on austar. Its a ABS-8776 box.

I would have to agree that it does seem like a lnb problem , however I know 'nothing' about lnb's so I'm screwed :-(

Is there anyway I can test my lnb ?

How do I check the lnb 'Lo' freq?

Would it be worthwhile to get up on my roof and move my dish and rotate my lnb etc... and see if it makes a difference to the signal?
