Before to give the liability to the box !!! Try to make a test with another HArd Disk!!

The real cause often is that the powersupply cannot really power a harddisk, especially when it is starting. Changing to another harddisk can help, because some disks take less current than others.
I have installed a larger disk which takes even a bit less current than my first one, according to the datasheet. Both disks are certified OK by Dream. But still with this new disk I had some crashes when the disk starts, which I did not have with the old disk.
Probably the exact characteristics of the peak current are important as well.
When I had my box open because it needed to be reflashed by JTAG, I took the opportunity and installed a small extra powersupply that powers only the disk.
This has completely solved the problems.
Of course this should not happen in an officially supported product, but...
