Where to get an Elvis Programer

Hi, this is my first post to this board and I'd like to start off by saying how much the posts here have helped me learn more about satellite technology than months of reading the newsgroups.

My first question is where would the best place for me to get an Elvis programer from? MMD seem to be the cheapest, but I have read a few bad things about them. I live in NSW if that makes any difference.

Are there any other recommendations on what programmer to get?

I mainly want this programmer to copy my friends card is it possible to just copy his gold card, or do I need to extract the keys off it?

Thanx

Copying your mates goldie may prove difficult, depending on what protection it may have. You would be better off extracting your details from your own sub card and reduplicating them on a gold, silver, or even the new emerald card.

I use the Elvis programmer, though I bought it whilst overseas. Cant say anything about MMD. Have had no problems at all with the elvis, using with elvis control centre.

Great little programmer.

Hmmm, didn't think about protection on cards....

Unfortunatly I don't have my own sub card, only the box & sat.

I have been following Kuband's tutorial on cloning gold cards and it seems pretty straight forward as to how to extract the data, doesn't mention much about protection. Unfortunatly I don't have my programmer yet to fully start to experiment.

Thanx

No you will only wrek a sub card not a goldie by extracting info... The seller would be a wanker if he protected the gold as he would only be protecting the ghostgold program not the info on the eeprom. I have a Gold mate pc plus.. You just insert the gold card wait a min until light goes off then insert another gold card and it copies the other one onto this one. You can even use a 9v battery pack.. No PC needed although it does connect to the PC so you can send stuff to the programmer. Only draw back is you can't talk to the card direct. Still an excellent programmer!
