NEWCAMD SERVER on LINUX MACHINE NEWBIE

I have install a linux system on a machine and place a phoenix 6Mhz on the COM 1 of the PC with an irdeto2 Original card inside.

I have place the cardserv.cfg and cardserver.i386(from newcamd v5.0.4 folder cardserver)in the /etc folder of linux pc.

I have tried to chmod 755 the two files but it gives me the message ''operation not permited''.

what I have to do to make it running for my configuration. I have two Dreamboxes 7000s in the network with newcamd server v5 running.

I would be pleased if you could help.

What linux system do you've got... If it's suse 8.1 than stop trying because it won't work (at least by me it isn't)

What I did as I stated at the begining. I have place the two files:

cardserv.cfg and cardserver.i386 in /etc of redhat. I have edit the cardserv.cfg with telnet and make it look as below with two users:

Do I have to do anything else?

What user do u run it as?
Run as root or u have to chmod 777 /dev/ttyS0 (or what port u r using)

I am root.

The phoenix is conected at com 1.
Whats the purpose of chmod 777?

first of all this procedure is wrong my friend the best is to install fedora or linux redhat 9 and above whats your isp dsl or normal anolog and third do u want to develop server to share your card with others answer to all my questions maybe i can help u but dont promise

Yes I have redhat linux 9.2. As I mention above my initial perpose is that I want to network my card to my local intranet from a Linux server.

I have two dreamboxes in the network. I have tried to share it within the two but for the reason I am using varius emus from time to time the sharing gets interupted.

Secondly I have a friend who wants to take a part to this share.

My local isp giving adsl is cytanet.com.cy.

If someone else willing to share his card with me why not giving him mine.

You can share the card on one of the dreamboxes using newcamd cardserver. It doesn't matter if you change emus, cardserver runs in the background.
