osd problems

mimi thanks for the great skin!!!
But to you and no less to all to you great people who makes skins for us!!:
Please always think how it looks in tv from far away. Don't just see it on your monitor that shows colours so much better than tvs. And tvs you you're watching far away. Monitos is near.
mimi can you see where you went wrong? I've noticed this contrast problem with lots of skins and 95% of all skins are lousy because people want to use nice colours and everything but it makes it impossible to use because the text just dissappears. The yellow is great but with the light scroll bar.... the yellow text becomes unreadable. agree?
please please always think that with tv osd the useability is priority 1! I want a skin that I can use 7000% more than a one that just looks nice.
I know the yellow is great way to separate the channel name from the palying show but i just can't see it on the selected line

Other thing is the usage of the lcd screen! Great idea from dream multimedia but they made it too small!!! it sould be twice the size.
We could use the one we have now better thoug. Volume bar is useless. I mean... if the volume is good, why do you need to see it? if it's not good you'll adjust it and you see the bar on the screen. Right?
Program process bar could be bigger so you can see it better from far away. We don't have to follow the ideas from dream multimedia people. Yes they made a great product but they too can be wrong... In my opinion the volume bar on lcd was a lousy idea... please don't copy it!

And all bar indicators are useless without the scale! in osd and lcd... if you don't know where the bar stops you can't really know how much it is, right?

Re: osd problems

I agree with you. I can say more, 95% of all skins are using too small chars. I can explain it only one way ; the author is using binoculars to manage his dreambox.

Re: osd problems

It really depends on your screen and viewing distance.

I have a 32" LCD TV and watch it from about 2.7 m and I should say the font and widget sizes usually are fine.
The TV up-scales the standard TV picture to the 1366x768 LCD resolution and this makes the small fonts easy to read. An older CRT TV with not so good focus will give a lot duller picture and more difficulty in reading small text.

I even modified some parameters in the skin to use more of the screen surface (to have more lines in station lists etc)
Probably there should be separate skins for older/smaller and newer/larger TVs.
