Timer causes box to reboot.

Hi, I'm using "Flubber" on a DM7000 and have an intermittant problem with recording. I record to an NFS share. If I set a timer to record a program with the start time some minutes before the actual program start the timer starts recording OK. However when the program starts the DM reboots. I have a repeat timer set for a BBC news program and had seen that occasionaly there would be two files per program and the epg data would be lost as seen following a reboot. I observed this problem last night when I happened to be watching the program being recorded. Is it possible that there is something in the epg transmitted that would cause the DM to trip up on a timer recording?
As I said the problem is intermittant and as yet I have seen no pattern e.g. every Tuesday. The DM is connected to a Spaun multiswitch and I receive Astra1 and 2.
Any thoughts or pointers to clear this problem would be appreciated.

Re: Timer causes box to reboot.

Thanks for the quick reply. The NFS share is on a FreeBSD box that runs 24/7. I'll check the logs, later today, but as the recording starts OK and the DM rebooted at the time the program was transmitted I didn't think it to be an NFS problem. I have never, to date, had a problem with NFS. Playback, directory listing and simultaneous playback/recording all work perfectly.
Thanks again.

Re: Timer causes box to reboot.

Searching the logs I found a DMA timeout error for the disk that has the NFS share and changed out the data cable. Neither the timeout error or DM reboot have re-occured in the last 11 days.

I am using CIFS instead NFS. When timer wants to save stream and cifs drive is not connected, enigma informs about it and work without problem. When cifs drive is up again, enigma is seeing it without problem, without need to restart.

Re: Timer causes box to reboot.

Thanks for the reply. I also have Samba running on the machine that serves NFS shares so that would be quick to test. When the DM rebooted with the start of the timer it was strange in that I got two files. One that started with the timer, then came the reboot and then the recording continued until the end of the set period. That the write started before the reboot was what made me think it wasn't due to an NFS problem.
The default options for NFS mounts in the DM are "nolock" and read/write blocks of 8k. Does the DM use NFS client ver2 (with default read/write 8k) or ver3. Also, as I understand it, if the option "intr" is used it should have the same effect as you describe with "CIFS" i.e Enigma continues when no remote drive is available.
When I playback an mpeg2 file from the remote drive the video freezes briefly every few minutes and occasionaly the DM hangs up. So I think I need to do some work with network tuning as I think that the DM should handle an mpeg2 stream produced form ProjectX/mplex. Unless you can recommend something else.

thanks again.
