Flubber NFS Server not working

Has anyone else tested this ?

As with previous PLi (nice image by the way!) I cant get the NFS server working.

Its installed and enabled and I can see where it gets called by an if statement in the RCs file but nothing.

Incidentally, the only image I've had success getting the NFS server working is in Gemini but I'd really like to have other options for images as I need NFS server to enable the DBox to connect and record to the Dreambox (and I've tried SAMBA in the past and the DBox just wont make a CIFS connection, so thats out !).

Can someone please have a look at it ? I'm wondering if the NFS server in use has simply got too old over time and perhaps a later version needs using on the later images ??

As a bit more info, I tried starting it manually with the following results (perhaps indicating an incomplete implementation ?)

/hdd/opt/nfs > ./nfs.sh start
./nfs.sh: 17: portmap: not found
./nfs.sh: 17: rpc.mountd: not found
./nfs.sh: 17: rpc.nfsd: not found
/hdd/opt/nfs >

cheers.

Ricky, I had a look but, unless its me, I didn't see a fix - did I miss something or is this yet to be looked at/resolved ?

Cheers.

Re: Flubber NFS Server not working

This is my setup one 7000 with a hard disk in it running PLI image... have downloaded NFS server plugin and run service..... to check telnet to box and see what processers are running this is mine
94 1 576 S portmap
96 root 812 S rpc.mountd
98 root 872 S rpc.nfsd 2
02 root 872 S rpc.nfsd 2
Thats it for the server
My client is another 7000 with PLI image....go into expert menu and mounts
enter your NFS server IP and make sure you enter hdd for your dir and \hdd for your localdirectory then try to mount.Thats all i did.
Also make sure both nfs server and client are on the same ip structure.....Im sure you already know this.

Re: Flubber NFS Server not working

@Ricky, thanks for the info but no processes on mine. Infact, and as mentioned, even running it manually and the files seemed to be 'not found' (as above) even though they are there. I just dont get it. Do I need to do anything such as not mount the hdd (in Expert setup) or some other thing ? I've even tried other images in flash (gemini 2.9, 3.0, SDT perfect-flash, boxman CVS) and all with the same zero result.

One question: with your working config, do you have a dir /hdd/opt/local/lib ? and if so are there files in it ? I ask this as I dont have this dir however the file nfs.sh which is meant to start the nfs server references this directory as an additional library export path and I am wondering why it does this if its empty.

Re: Flubber NFS Server not working

Yes, my hard drive is it in my dreambox. I can record to it locally without problem. I don't want to record to another PC.
