cabling for jay-car mkll

hey,
what serial cable is required for the jaycar mk ll card programmer.
im slightly confused and have read contradictory data. a few documents explain i need a cable from the programmer going to my modem others say i need one going to my printer port
could anyone shed some light on this please? and tell me where the programmer is supposed to plug in?
regards,
viggo.

All u need is a serial cable 1 end to the programmer db9 male -- PC db9 or db25 female, depending on your pc.

yup

Exactly, if u look at your jaycar u just built (assuming u did just make 1) then it is clear that there is ONLY 1 place to plug it into your comp, and thats a serial port. A 9pin serial, male to female is all that is needed.

Ive got mine plugged into com1.Which on the computer is a 9 pin male
It would work if u plugged the programmer itself into the comport without a cord
