installing emu

I have uploaded newcam.tar.gz into /tmp on my DB 500…. getting a message " please execute the manual addon installation from your image" . What do I need to do… please advise,

The procedure depends on which image you have.

Basically you have to find the addons window and then select manual install. Dont forget if you shut down your dreambox, the temp files will be deleted so you may need to reinstall the file in temp.

I have installed Gemini and all is OK…. have couple of questions, though.
I installed newcamd 5.28.tar.gz on my system (perhaps should have used xxx.tar.gz2) Can this emu still work? If not, how can I fix the problem? Do I need to reinstall from scratch?
On the screen, for some satellites, I’m getting a message " the service does not currently send signal". What does it mean …is it related to malfunctioning emu.
I have performed a transponder scans on few sat. .. for most part I got a lock. On 119, however, am getting a msg. " all known transponders have been tried but no lock was possible. Verify antenna/ cable setup or try another sat. network. Can someone explain what’s happening here?

Thanks for your response… I have a motorized 3’ dish with STAB HH 90 and DISEqC 1.2. I have set up my satellite config, and was able to scan transponders on some channels. I have recently installed xxx.tar.gz2 but with no luck, since I have previously installed the wrong tar. What do you think? How come I can get any transponder locks on 119 – the dish is aimed OK?

I followed the Newbies guide and there is no mentioning of filling in your location or such... Do you really need to do that, and if yes, where do you put it in and what for? I just aimed the sat based on the signal strength (e.i. SNR, AGC) on screen.
