which bootloader

I have been trying to check what bootloader is on my nokia 9200/9500 with a view to change, following the disconnect/reconnect instructions I do not get a display with the bootloader version listed just "bootlock is protected" any advice as to my next course of action please, and will it work with a null modem cable.
