Can't access internet with 2 images on usb. Only Gemini on usb. Need help please!

As the title suggests, I'm really lost what to do right now. I've reformatted the usb stick. Did that last night, without any success.. Could someone please come up with a solution?

As it is out of my 3 images on usb, (PLI Diamond. DaVinci 5.4 final ) I can only update cams, plugins - access internet, with Gemini 2.70.

I am using a firewall, but turned it off earlier, to see if it was the cause. But it didn't help. I had PLI Diamond in flash, but have now put a CVS image from the 3.12.2005 -hoping the flash image was the problem. (which it turned out it wasn't)

Some weeks ago, I had problems updating from the microsoft website, and I read a thread that to untick "use a proxy server for this comnnection" would fix the problem, so I did this. And it did. I think somehow here I've upset my proxy settings, and maybe this is why I'm having problems now..

But I'm at a loss why I can update cams, plugins, with Gemini on usb... (if I couldn't update with any image, it might be easier to understand, but why just one??) I'm writing this hoping someone has the answer out there... My operating system is Windows XP And my dreambox is a DM7000s.

Likewise I'm not a newbee, as I have my dreambox now for over a year -but I'm still finding problems.

have you gone to youre lan set up on each image and checked that they are the same as on the 1 you have working.

Telnet into your dreambox on your working image.
At the prompt type ifconfig eth0

Note these settings. If you can telnet into your dreambox lan communication is ok, so I would say the DNS settings are the problems on your other images.
The DNS is set up under communication setup, nameserver under Gemini image, but always stored on linux under /etc/resolv.conf
so while you have your telnet session open type
cat /etc/resolf.conf

root@dm7020:~# cat /etc/resolv.conf
# Generated by enigma
nameserver 192.168.254.254

My example is above, but my DNS settings are stored in my router, the dreambox only needs to know where to find my router the router knows
where to find my ISP's DNS servers.

Do these commands with each image, you will soon find where the problem is.

Latest news... Got everything back up and running again...!!! Turned out it was my TCP/IP setting.. Thanks again hal8000 for helping me to track down the cause... It's great to have PLI Diamond back up and going, along with the others...
