Needed a Guru

Hi there,

I am from New Zealand working in software and now devleoped interest in Satellite TV and wanna start workiing on my this hobby my first mission to crack the Indian channels which are aired by Optus B3 satelite. I am still getting used to terminology but need a Guru who can guide me through my journey.

I dont have any hardware yet except a dish which was installed by SKY(NZ) but i am not a subscriber to them. so i can use it.

please guide me what to buy before i start with my venture

You have a fast and steep learning curve in front of you....... As for a Guru, mate, isn't that what this forums all about? Sharing knowledge.... Trust me, there r a couple of Gurus floating around this site.

I'd start with lots of reading.... like before you start cracking encryption systems, can you focus a dish on the sat and do a simple freq scan?

If i were you, i'd look to find someone selling a second hand Humax 4500 or something simple like that. Dreambox's are great, but might be a big hand full as a first box.

So yeah, get a cheap box and start searching for some FTA and with that you should learn a bunch.
