newbie question

Just got my dreambox dm7000 today. Have put latest hydra image (0902). Can get pictures using my 206 cam but not with card slots. What do i have to do to use a card in the one of the slots? Which slot? and which way does the card go?

What type of card are you trying in the slots?

A gold card(16f84a + 24lc16b)or an equivilent won't work without a modification to the card reader.

However an original subscription card should work!

gold card worked ok im my db in bottom slot,just got to check that the card did not get hot.did not do any mod to my card reader.but then again i was not useing hydra image

in my 2.06b cam the wafer has to be facing up.

the card slots in the db are wafer down.

in my dm5620s this cam had decoding[?] problems with frequent pixelating.

i started with the, then, latest hydra image but could not get the card slot to work. this was more than likely my fault because i didn't have a clue.

in desparation i flashed with the latest ned kelly image.

two things happened -

* the card slot was working, but what the difference was i still don't know.

* i discovered the UCAS emu plugin. just had to key in my card details with the remote and no card needed for my current setup.

from the cam info i'm assuming you want to be looking at oz pay tv, at least for now, so i'll mention that my red card works fine in the card slot together with the details in the box. yes, they are different. my gold card works in the card slot too and while i have not noticed any sign of overheating i'll leave that in my provider box until i know more. ZBEE has posted a warning somewhere here on using pic driven cards.

without the cam there is no more pixelating.

while i don't have a 7000s i believe your card should be in the top slot which must be activated in the setup. i'm guessing on the last bit.

since posting i came across some info which advised that the card should be wafer down in the bottom slot. turn off the dreambox and reboot.

i've been fumbling around like this for nearly three weeks but i'm getting there!

I've tried my red card and a silver card (still working, only just been red carded) in both slots with the contacts up and down turning the box off and on after each change and both cards will still only work in the cam. Do i have to activate the slots ?

Yes you need to activate the slots using the Radegast Edit plugin.

You should be using the Radegast Emu.

As Pat said:

- Hit blue button
- Select Radegast Edit plugin
- In the field labeled "1st" change to "Bottom Slot"
- Put card in bottom slot with contacts facing DOWN
- Hit green remote button to apply changes and confirm a radegast daemon restart
- Wait a few seconds for your pics
