Difference between Var/keys & Var_init/Keys ?

Hi all,
could someone point out the difference between Var and Var_init ?
I can see in the Var/Keys : seca and viaccess file with size 0 (empty) and in the Var_init/Keys : seca and viacces file with size 1 or 2k (with good values).

Has something to be done in order to have those 'good' files in the proper directory ?

var_init is a static directory in the flash which holds basic settings! var_init is read only!
On flash erase these directories are copied to the /var directory which is read / write and from now all your personalized settings are stored there until you do a flash erase again!
Then /var will be deleted and newly created from /var_init!

Thanks I understand now why var_init looks like var.
I also have a beginning of understanding on what happen when I press the (I) button (on / off).

I will certainly find out later on what happens when I shutdown (long hold the on / off button on the remote control) the dream, or when I plug out the alim. or when I do a reset (3 buttons) or when I do a flash erase (top left button while plug in)

Or Perhaps someone would direct me to an old thread I couldn't find in the search with my keywords
