My knowledge is limited but that doesnt stop me trying to assist.

Ways of logging.
1. Using a STU (Nokia 9500) and scsi card and appropiate software.

2. Skymedia 200D/DPA card in PC connected to LNB.

3. Season interface in your STU.

1 & 2 will allow you to log most information from Sat.

3 will only log YOUR details.

This explaination is sketchy but it should give you an idea of the basic methods.

Logging means capturing the communications between your box, cam and card.
If logging with a "season" interface (inserted between card and box) you will capture data relevent to your card. All commands that control the operation of your card (sent as strings containing Nanos) and the corresponding replies can be saved as files for later examination.
If logging with a Nokia receiver or a SkyMedia type PC card, you are able to capture the whole datastream, which contains all the data for all the cards in the system. You need to be selective as to what you save as the corresponding files can be huge. Note however. that logging in this manner does not mean you can get enough info to make a working card - some details (already on the card) are never sent over-the-air.
Check out activate11 in the tutorials area for more info - this doc is getting a little long in the tooth but is still a "must read" for all hobbiests. There is also a thread in the Newbies forum containing all the text from the document.

Sharris

Yu need to do quite a bit of reading.

The questions in your posts so far are jumping all over the place.

Start at the beginning if you want to get into this hobby.

Read some of the tutorials and then give it a go. If it doesnt work then ask questions. At least then people can see you are trying and will help you.

When you start asking questions make sure you give all the details you can - ie: programmer, subcard version, card being programmed etc.

Never give out your subcard details except for the HSN and provid when your need an emk. These abbreviations probably dont mean that much at this stage, however, will when you get itno it a bit more.
