Will my Humax 5400 be usable after SR change?

Hi all,

I keep hearing that foxtel will change SR's next year (to a higher range), so will this mean that my Humax 5400 won't be usable because it can't handle SR's in a higher range?

Can the 5400 unit be converted, or do I just buy a better STB? what will I do with the old one hey???

Thanks all

Ram

This topic has been covered manyyyyyy times, how about doing some reading
The symbol rate is going lower not higher - what you should be worried about is you Card - without a Subscription you wont be getting any channels no matter wha the symbol rate is

Sell it to me, I mean the rumour of these symbol rate changes has been around for over a year now so by golly it must be true.

It's difficult Ramulais not to be sarcastic, but lets take every rumour out there to its logical solution.
Lets accept that Foxtel will change the symbol rate (I suggest you read about what the symbol rate does or how it relates), Will change every smart card, will change every subscribers box, will defeat all known forms of Satellite piracy and whats more they instigate every other known rumour thats out there.

You will still be able to use your Humax, you will simply point your dish somewhere else, you may have to purchase extra equipment, you may have to spend some more money.

thanks guys,

Apologies for asking something that has been asked before. I have read info about possible future changes elsewhere, and didn't see any info in the posts here (I didn't look at EVERY one so I must have missed it). Thought someone here would have some info on it anyway..thanks for sharing!

I'm not concerned about losing foxtel as my subscription is still running...I am just used to have two decoders at home, and it would suck if I could only use the one foxtel gave me.

Thanks again
