symbol rate changing to 45000

hi i have a humax 5400, i heard that the symbol rate on the UEC wikk change to 45000 and my HMX wont be able to change the symbol rate on mine to 45000 is that true? and if its true what can i do to get around it? thanks

At the present time the Symbol Rate change is just a rumour. If it does happen and ends up above the 31000 (or so) mark then the Humax will not work for that service. The fix would not be cheap - easier to buy another box.

what other sat will i be able to get if the other changes to 45000?

any that have C band,B1 and depending if its patched or has Ci Cam fitted then there would be others like i701

This is how they control the consumer electronic industry,bring in products with no spare parts.If it turns out to be the Demux chip or the tuner,which according to hot chip {sydney} and many other sat installers i've spoken to the tuner is at fault,these items should be avalable over the counter to fix such issuse as the symbol rates.Companies bring in boxes with no spare parts is the illegal issuse not us picking up tv from the atmosphere. I've been repairing for over 25yrs and replacing even surface mount chips is not hard any tech can do this,we need to push the suppliers ppl so the ball rolls back all the way to these companies.

As the admin has already pointed out it is a RUMOUR.
What people seem to forget if they change the symbol rate to 45000 that is 50% more bandwidth they need per carrier you guys do the sums

....and the new sat goin up(c1) has narrower bandwidth transponders than the current(b3)...so what does that tell you...but alass..most people dont really understand what this hobbie is all about...they just want freetv

I sent a letter to humax and this was their reply.

Is it possible for humax to change my symbol rates so i can get 45000. i love my humax and dont want to buy another brand.thanks

We are afraid that our hardware specification does not support the symbol rate higher than 31000.
but our next generation model will meet 2 - 45 Ms/s
