This is going to sound really stupid, but what is a key? Its cool if you could just point me somewhere to have a look. Im starting to get into all this now. So im new to all the terms.

A key is mostly used to open the door of a house. Or opens a door on a car and starts the engine. I'm sure you have at least one of them and can have a closer look. I don't know any other place to point you.
