How to patch Humax5400irci

How to patch Humax5400irci
What a ‘simple’ Humax 5400 IRCI can do?

Normally, using manufactory software, you may decode all programs in IRDETO mode if you put the appropriate smart card into a build-in CAM module.

Why releasing a patch ?

Some hobbyists have improved these capabilities. They prepared an equivalent software also called ‘patch’ or ‘+CAM’ which allows you to decode betacrypt, irdeto, seca, nagra and viaccess via the normal (standard) embedded Irdeto CAM. By using the right card and files you don't need an extra Common Interface to handle other encryptions.

How to install this patch ?

You install the patch just the same way you install official Humax firmware (using your PC or laptop) connect your PC to you Humax receiver by using a null-modem cable, and the right software, as described below.

Is my 5400 IRCI ready to be ‘patched’?

Old Humax 5400IRCI works right away. The newer 5400Z IRCI requires some hardware intervention in order to be ready for new software. This document is not supposed to discuss this intervention. There are many dealers that sell the Humax 5400z already patched. We recommend this option, as you’ll have their guarantee as well for your receiver.

Basically the result of this intervention is to have the right ‘loader’ in receiver. You can check this easier, in the moment you start up the receiver, the display should show up the loader version, like: H2.08, L2.08. If you see that, you’re ready for upgrade to +CAM software.

HOW TO INSTALL THE +CAM FIRMWARE INTO YOUR HUMAX 5400 SERIES

1. Download the WDN4OAK+ software from Humax web site. Click on the icon below or go to the mentioned link:
http://www.humaxdigital.com/support/Files/WDN4OAK+.zip )

Unzip the ‘WDN4OAK+.zip’ file into a separate folder then run ‘setup.exe’ program. Go through the installation process using default values.
2. Download the +CAM firmware.
http://www.axs-ict.nl/humax5400/tale.../firmware.html
This is the software you have to install in your receiver in order to have the multi-CAM mode. It’s a file with the extension HDF, and is created by PH. There are several location where you can download it.

On all locations, search for the latest release. At the time this was written (May 2002), the latest one was ‘HIC10500PH +CAM2002G+TOH11’ . The file is usually zipped. Unzip it, and a new file with HDF extension will result. The magic word that it’s on the file name is: ‘+CAM2002G’ in fact the +CAM only, that make the difference from the original firmware.

3. Turn off your Humax (so put it in STAND-BY modus)
4. Connect your PC to the STB with RS-232C serial cable .
5. Follow below steps. Then you will have to choose the HDF file you have downloaded at the step number 2:
6. Now you need to turn -ON- Humax from Stand-by button to have the download started. During the process, you should see a progress bar.
7. After 100% a screen opens and tells you to turn on your Humax. The display will show a blinking ‘END’ word. Push the Stand-by button again.
8. Now you are working with the +CAM firmware
DO THAT AT YOUR OWN RISK.
GOD LUCK.
