Firmware upgrade problems for topfield

Well, downloaded the 2 files to do upgraded on my Topfield 3000cipro as Nokia_ Rulez suggested. Finally got my Null modem
cable today and attempted to do upgrade. (btw the latest software has been updated for the Toppy even from last week).
When using tfd-downloader set the port setup to com1(com 2 doesn't respond) and using Dec 01 software for the download, I initiate the download whereupon after 5-10secs download stops with error message appearing "external error". The LCD on my STB flashes e-01. Any ideas? Could it be the cable(is new) or something in setup or whatever. Changed baud rate to no avail.
Was using the com port for modem but deleted it from system temporarily to avoid conflict when connecting pc to STB. Help would be appreciated.
Goldie died in the ass. Same thing to 10 of my friends. Made phone call to friend in Syd who had more than 200 calls from his customers who had sunk. Fudtell hit good today.

Absolutely nothing to do with card Rickie. That is a separate issue.
My problem is upgrading related. That is why I went thru the process of describing my problem in as much detail as I could. Go back thru the post to c that. From what I have been able to gather updating the software should(?) still be achievable. The fact that my card died is not your problem and is something that I have to rectify by myself. Don't jump the gun. My friend sells satellite equipment and tries to help his customers out when they experience these sort of difficulties in the same way that people offer assistance in this forum. Card selling is not his forte. He doesn't need to. He is not obliged to help. He does that off his own bat. I mentioned that to relay to the list that the titanic is certainly sinking. I would imagine Rickie that a card seller and a card user would sit in the same basket in the eyes of Fooktel so lets try to keep things in perspective shall we. I too have a sub like alot of people out there but that don't make me a real friend to Ftel when I pull that goldie out. I suspect Morgan Freeman summed the situation up beautifully by confessing to be the only guilty man in Shawshank. I do appreciate the assistance that has been passed onto me but found Rickies comment to be rather quick.

must admit that from what is written here I too would think the same as ricky

if you didn't want people to come to that conclusion then as far as i'm conerned either don't put it in or say that your friend sells sat equip

i think that would have cleared it up for everyone....i know what it is like when you don't give all the info or only part of it

Then I should have been more clearer in my initial posting. Apologies for lack of clarity.
Posted an email to topfield-korea who advised me of the following
so I hope this does help other Toppy owners when doing upgrades. In relation to an E-O1 error this means
"that there are some error in the data from serial cable in integrity checking. " He advises to:
"One of the followings may cause the problem. Please kindly change one by one and try it again.

1. Cable
2. PC
3. STB UART port".
As well there is an even newer software release (dec01). Topfield Australia site now has that release.
OTA upgrade is not available, not yet anyway.
Hope that is useful and not a waste. Now to check my brand new null modem cable.

thanks for the info osman.

did my 3000CI Pro yesterday once i got the cable the right way round. only had one chance of that being wrong and Murphy made sure of that!

i used the downloader and 26sept03 firmware that's in the file section here.

port setting was ok at 115k.

ran the downloader then turned on the stb.

download started once the box had booted up.

no problems and the downloader said when it was done.

back in business straight up no EMK problem.

deleted all channels.

LNB set to 11300Mhz and auto scanned optus B3 - haven't changed that to C1 yet but same thing of course. thought i'd mention this in case anyone was looking for C1.

everything appeared including globecast and aurora.

deleted all the stuff that wasn't working or for other reasons and ended up with 90 or so.

channels appear to change a lot faster than with the march '03 firmware.

i've downloaded the dec '03 firmware and post it the file section unless it's there already.

got it here-

http://www.topfield.co.kr/technote/m...rd=TF3000CIPro

had a look at the changes and for the time being i'll stick with the sept '03 firmware.

rasputin.
