Hi Guys
Its not the first time something like this has happened - some months ago with a 2.06b i recall that most topfields were locking up and freezing, in particular using the top slot on the ones that had dual slots
My 4000 hasnt missed a beat since i had changed firmware a few months back and is still going well with older firmware - seems to be more a problem in the 3000's hopefully someone might be able to work out why

Pat,
Thankyou for your correction. I hope I didn't lead people up the garden path with my link. Apologies if that happened.
Pat I am somewhat confused that the Topfiled-Australia site did
not have the latest upgardes. I would have thought that would be the first place that one would go. If you are a Toppy owner as I am, is it a site one can rely upon for necessary downloads.
Many thanks to Nokia_Rulez for his assistance in the matter.
Now to get a null modem cable. Went to a computer shop yesterday and asked if they had one. All I got was a blank expression.

Osman

Hi Osman,

Yes I am a TF3000CIpro owner, along with other decoders.

As for the Australian site not having the lastest firmware, I think someone once described Australia as being the "Arse end of the world" Times have changed but not enough

Use this link, it seems to have the latest info http://work.irkudos.co.kr/main.asp It is not in English but I'm sure you can navigate it.

Any "GOOD" computer store should know what a nul modem cable is.

Pat.

quite simple to make your own null modem cable

2 x 9 pin female serial connectors
1&6 - 4
2 - 3
3 - 2
4 - 1&6
5 - 5
7 - 8
8 - 7

well i tried it the way topfield australia said to wire up the DB9 by crossing pins 2 & 3 over with pin 5 staight thru and disconnecting the rest and it doesn't work.

gets as far as waiting to reset box but doesn't respond when it resets.

now i'll rewire it to null modem configuration, i see this has worked for a couple here.

tried DICKHE*D SMITH's ElECTRICAL reject shop and this young dweeb says they don't have 'em 'cos they're old technology! of course he friggin' didn't know what it was but made up something on the spur of the moment.

last week they didn't have 10amp 3AG fuses. checked dse website and they even list ceramics. WFATSB's doing working in a place like that!

i found a store on the web but none local. shoulda just made it up in the first place but didn't realize that i had a cable that allowed me to remove the plugs.
