Wrong frequency and no signal, help!

Hello all

I have just got my hands on a austar box. Not sure what model but on the back it says IRDETO cryptology, and on the front it says AUSTAR Titan.
My problem is that when i plug it in to power and dish, it comes up with no channels and no signal and says it's on frequency 12438 mhz.
I've checked with 2 mates and their boxes are both on 12688.
I've tried a mates box on my dish and it works no probs so I can only assume that the reason mine wont work is because 12438mhz is not the right frequency.
Is this correct?
If so how do I change it?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to everyone in advance and thanks for the wealth of information already available here. Let me tell you though, I started reading about all this yesterday and it's one hell of a steep learning curve. But i'm preservering.

Regards
Ben

Mate, the model of the box is as you stated 'Titan'! You said you got your hands on the box but did you get the sub card with it, cause no matter how much you kick and scream, you aren't going to get it to work with an emulated card. They get married to the origional activated sub card and there they will stay (so far)

Gee wizz thanks for the speedy responce guys.
When you say they are "married" and it wont work without it's origional sub card, do you mean just my model or all boxes?

I have just changed the inb frequency and now its coming up with the guide and stuff where as before I was getting no signal at all. I have borrowed a friends origional sub card to try but the only channel i get is home shopping. Is this due to what was said before about not having the orig card for my box?

thanks again

ok well been reading more and more about these titan boxes with the chucky cards. I don't have the card so it basically looks like i'm up crapper creek.
Thanks anyway for the previous responces.

Yeh mate, you would have been better off getting yourself almost any other box (pace excluded)! These things are a bug paper weight that draws a current without their counterpart (chucky)!

Hope this drawback doesn't halt your learning curve in sat!
