SKYMEDIA SM200DPA Card Reader

Has anyone here ever made any use of the Smart Card Reader that is on a SkyMedia SM200DPA DVB PC Card.
The DPA is the satellite internet card only not the sat tv card.
I was wondering if this could be used to read whats on a card
and save it to a file. Would be interesting if this could also be used to write to the card but that's probably asking too much.

Thumbs down SM200DPA

I have the same card and I could get all the four faces green and smiling, but that's it.
I was trying to use ProgDVB (it doesn't have the module for 200DPA. So there was no picture, even I was trying to trick the software by renaming the 200DPA dll file to sky300.dll.
I had a go with Multidec, but I could not set the LNB parameters and I could not scan anything.
I think this card made for internet only and is not capable for DVB reception.
Although on the second thouht I don't know , why did Telemann put in the smart card slot?
Is there anyone out there who had any result with this 200DPA card?

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I can not download your attachments.
I got the sky300.dll file from an other site and put it in the ProgDVB\Modules folder together with the sm300.Device file.
I reset the LNB to 10600 in Telemann Setup, and in ProgDVB too.
When I do a lock test the AGC value is 172 all the lights are lit, but the for faces are red. What I did was, renamed the 200D card's dll file to sky300.dll, and moved it to the Modules folder.

The program cannot scan the channel scanning. When I open up the device list I select the Skymedia 300 and on the bottom of the ProgDVB window I have the Quality:0% Level:100% and in the Device List Support window I have: Trasport stream written.
But when I click OK the Level goes back to zero.
I added the OPTUS B3 parameters to one of the ini files but when I try to scan the channels but it does not register any.
Where can I find a manual written for ProgDVB, would you know?
Regards Strova

ritzy, as this is your second post that is absolute rubbish, i suggest you take some friendly advice and give it a rest.

if you are a serious user of this forum then it's not a good idea to attract any unfavourable attention.

rasputin.

Hi Strova,

What i beleave you need to do is copy your sm200dpa.dll to the progdvb modules folder and rename sm200dpa.dll to sky300.dll then it should work.

Cheers

Re: SKYMEDIA SM200DPA Card Reader

Hi All

In reply to Strova Jul 2003!

I have a Telemann Skymedia manual - it says on page 8:

"2-3 Smart Card Insertion
To watch scrambled services, you must insert smart card into smart card reader. Ensure your card is the correct way as shown (pic shows chip side towards punched plate name) in fig 4 when you put it in the smart card reader."

brackets and content is my own.

This manual is for Skymedia 200D Product No.: SM200DPA

So it is clear that this card was intended for watching encrypted services.

So as one can "watch scrambled service" surely this is a strong indication that SM200DPA was intended for watching video or TV stream? Certainly with no scanning ability in the software, only one transponder was ever envisaged.

Also on the original packet it states "MPEG-2 DVB Digital Video Broadcasting" - which is even more clear.

cheers :-)
