The Dreambox is an excellent receiver IMO (I have a 500S), but it needs quite a bit of knowlege to set up satisfactorily. Nothing that you will not be able to learn, but expect a week or two of late nights and frustration while you find out how it all works and fits together.

The unit will of course work "straight out the box", but to make use of all its possibilities means changing its firmware (it uses a Linux OS) to one of several alternatives that have been developed by enthusiast groups. Make sure you do not buy a clone Dreambox - some of the available firmwares contain code that detect a clone and kills it!

If you do get one, feel free to email me to get over the initial hump of what to do first and where to find information.
