Skystar HD setup for C and KU band with Dual Pol Dual band LNB

Hi All,

I am having trouble here in NZ setting up a Skystar HD with 2.3 metre Paraclipse dish with PBI Turbo-4200CK16) C/Ku-Band dual-pol Twin Output LNB - as attached spec.

The technisat driver I am using is SkyStar HD - TechniSat TV Center 1.0.7.6
which I think is the latest driver.

How to setup the LNB, and how to get the Telstar 18 satellite transponder list ini file I have made loaded into this software is driving me nuts!

Firstly, the 1.0.7.6 driver comes with a faulty pdf manual, which fails to point out how to delete the huge default favourites (european?) channel list.

Secondly - it has no Telstar 18 in its satellite list - nor of course any transponders for it. Having made an ini file for 3599 up I cannot load it as the 'favourites' set for possibly europe appear to be violently set against their removal! Which prohibits a new satellite being set and scanned.

All this is tough going - as most will know.

All advice welcome.
cheers to all - I'm in a flap here:

Re: Skystar HD setup for C and KU band with Dual Pol Dual band LNB

Hi all,

Still a mission in progress this - I bought myself an inclinometer and a digital compass which help. I have a strong signal but cannot get the Skystar HD to lock on it. I'm using both technisat Tv Centre and MyTheatre.

If i can't get a lock i will change back to the Zinwell ZCF-D21A C-Band Dual Pol. LNBF. I've realised now that a dual band LNB is pretty pointless when the KU footprint doesn't cover NZ!! The Zinwell has a similar c Band Spec but I see the noise is lower - 15 compared to the PBI 17-23, wether this makes a lot of difference will be more clear after I enlicit some help from a dedicated c Band installer....

Certainly the signal is there... some fine tuning might help!

:-)

Re: Skystar HD setup for C and KU band with Dual Pol Dual band LNB

OK More Progress

I have a strong signal now from Telstar 18 - two C Band transponders.

I ditched the PBI lnb in favour of the Zinwell - I'm now getting crystal clear signal showing the two transponders (3599/3660) with very low noise. It was the cheap look of the PBI LNB scalar ring that spooked me - plus the higher noise level in the spec.

However I still cannot lock the signal on the Skystar HD or get a signal to the Skystar HD Technisat TV Centre software - at all.

I am coming to the conclusion that the Technisat Skystar HD cannot receive C Band signals. Indeed the software spits and hisses if the LNB mhz is other than 10750 - 12750 mhz. Surely this says it all!??

So with this error it appears the lnb settings in the software cannot accept 5150 mhz as the lnb setting. Therefore the card cannot receive C band.

Does anyone have a workaround for this?? Otherwise does anyone know which DVB PCI cards will work with C Band LNB settings??

I have a Skystar 1 CI that i can also try - but I was rather hoping the HD would receive C Band mhz.

:-( :-( I'm not happy here in NZ! I want a refund on the SS HD cards I have!!

Technisat will here about this....
