Question what box to buy

Hi All! As you can see i'm a bloody newbie to the topic. I'm moving into a new flat and there i will have DVB-S but now i have the problem which box to buy. I was thinking of a Relook 400s or the Dreambox DM500 (or even the 7025?).

What do i want?
1.
I would like to have my NAS with all the films and very important all the music (ogg, mp3, flac, mp4,...) and i would like to playback everything with my new little box. Is there a problem with playback on different media files with any of the boxes?

2.
Surround sound is very important for me. Also recording movies including AC3 stream. I've not found very much information on that. The DM500 does not have a HDD included but i think it is no problem on recording on my NAS.

3.
Twin Tuner. I like the Relook because of the price and even including a twin tuner. The DM500 is also perfekt for money but neither has HDD nor a twin tuner. Ok i could live with that when you say the DM500 is very much better compared to the 400s. The 7025 of course sounds perfect but costs lot of money. Would it be better to buy a cheap receiver and save the money for a 7025 or even a 8000 (or DM600 PVR?) when it comes?

A yes: I'm not new to Linux and all the stuff. I'm working _only_ on linux and i like to mess around with all the stuff :-). So thats not a problem. But it should also be possible for my girl to work with the new box. She is not that technic freak as i am but can handle it quite good :-).

So thanks for every little piece of help.

Rgds, Manuel

no problem, NAS works over a 100Mb network
but i here positive and negative rumours about the dm500 and recording over a network, so better to buy a dm70xx

dreambox records the Transport Stream, so what is broadcasted will be recorded unscrambled. via the optical output you can here it through your audiosystem. i'm told that the relook records scrambled to the hdd

see my dm500 answer above. the dm70xx can record two streams which are on the same transponder if you use the right softcam.

ps i dont own a relook maybe others can help you out about there experiences

You won't be able to play back mp4/divx/xvid on a mutant/relook/dreambox - they don't have dedicated hardware for this and the cpu is not fast enough to do it in software afaik
