A dumb question about running two decoders off one dish ?

When you loop through first decoder (Humax 5400z) to a second one (DVB-s Pci) can they run on different polarities? ie. the first on Horizontal
the second on Vertical. Or the only way to overcome this is to use two dishes?

Thank's jc58nc

If you are using your Humax as main box then that will be running the power for your LNB , so therefore if you switch the Humax to say a Vertical channel then the other unit will only be able to watch a vertical channel also...same way for Horizontal....so unfortunately if you want to watch either at same time you need seperate LNB's or you can also use a Universal LNB...

Hi Scooterpig
Excuse my ignorance, does the Universal LNB output both vertical and horisontal signals without the need to switch? I alway wondered what was ment by the term.

The Universal LNB has two connections allowing you to run two different frequences whether they be Vertical or Horizontal..

SETTINGS

AS well as a dual output LNB...U will need to have the STB set up to accept a frequency from a Universal LNB. Do this in system settings. Change 11300 TO UNIVERSAL & you are well on the way.

Re: SETTINGS

The output should be from the receiver and not the LNB. In general, it is either 13V/18V for switching the V/* polarity. You can install a multiplexer between the receiver and the univeral LNB and in this method, you can have independent polarity switching with multiple receivers with just one LNB. Cannot work if one receiver want to watch B3 and the other C1.

A simple answer to your question, no it can't.

To view different polarities on each device, you use a DUAL OUTPUT, dual polarity LNB on your existing dish, and run a second cable down to the PCI card.

Dual output LNB's come in either standard (11300) or universal (9750-10700), which one you choose will depend on what satellites you want to view.
