Locked on "waiting for NIT acquisition"

I have a UEC DSD700 that is not behaving itself. Normally the channel number is displayed but for some time now this occasionally changes to "inf".
The display on the tv says "waiting for NIT acquition" and "press exit to cancel scan". It locks on this and the only way I can return to normal is to press exit, as prompted, then "OK" Any ideas ?
