cardserver i386 and USB-RS232 problem

I have major problem with USB to RS232 converter in Linux

Details here :

OS :
- RedHat 9 (2.4 kernel)

SW :
- cardserver i386 (latest)

H/W :
- Laptop (one RS-232 port and one USB port)
- two phoenix programmers (home made and sc-master)
- FTDI USB to serial converter (8U232AM)

Both Phoenix programmers working nicely in COM1
"SERIAL_PORT = 0"

but if I try programmer connected to USB converter, cardserver will give "reset failed" everytime
setting is "SERIAL_PORT = 4" (it's correct port, cause after 3 starts usb's, and example port 3 or 5 will give parse error)

I tested with CTS,DCD and DRS option, and no go...

USB converter installed easily to linux, its currently at "ttyS4 0x400 irq 11"
(kernel support USB to RS232 adapter)

Tested bit with serial analyzer, seems no data sent or receive when starting cardserver..odd
Has anyone succeeded with USB-RS232 converter?
