MY emails to humax related to the fact that they bring products into this country with no spare parts{apart from $25 remotes} backing them, which is against the law with comsumer electronic products, companies are required to supply parts for there products for upto 7 years ie: tuners to handle new symbol rates, surface mount chips or whatever. And how do you know nokia they dont? And dingo how do you know its a STORY

chrismy,
Humax don't bring products into Australia at all - their importer/distributor do. They (the distributor) do carry spare parts, they just don't have parts that were not originally part of the equipment they sell and they certainly don't have parts that don't actually exist for that equipment.
The Humax 54xx range has a max SR of around 31000, that is what you bought, and no sort of demanding on your part will change that.
I'm sure Humax would like to be able to offer their users an easy way to up the symbol rate, but it just isn't feasable due to the technical issues and the cost factor.
The whole sorry part of this, and many similar threads, is that the SR will not be changing at all - the fallout from it has been huge - and is all over a rumour/story that seems to have been started and/or perpetuated by those with a vested interest in not seeing Humax and their distributor/agents do so well from now on.

Its Quite simple - Humax is a Korean STU manufacturer, Foxtel is an Australian Pay Tv Carrier
Humax is not an approved Foxel Decoder so why would foxtel release any information to Humax in regards to future changes?

If your worried then sell your Humax and buy a UEC from Hotstory (they just received a **** load) these would have to be much better right, and foxtel use them so they could supply the firmware over the air for you
