Serious problem getting my SKyStar 2 PCI Card to Work
Hi All,
I have installed it in my WinXP (Service Pack 2) machine and I'm
trying to pick up feeds from 1W. I know the dish is pointing in the
correct direction, because using my FTA box, there's no problem, the signal is booming out.
However when I start to use the Skystar 2 and when I open "DVBViewer"
I don't get anything, the status bar at the bottom of the pages varies
between 23% and 29%. I know this is pretty low so I tried moving the
dish slightly but that made no difference.
I thought that perhaps there is something wrong with the way it picks
up that satellite so I tried obscuring the dishes view to see if I
could affect the signal strength value. However no matter how I
blocked my dish it made no effect on the signal reading. EVEN IF THE
DISH IS POINTING STRAIGHT AT THE GROUND it still fluctuated between
23% and 29%.
I have to conclude that my Dish/LNB/cable setup is ok as they have
worked with a FTA set top box.
The voltage is also present on the centre conductor of the Skystar 2
so that is not the problem.
Have you ever heard of a problem like this before? Is there anything I
need to setup in the Filters or config settings?
Do I need any other software other than that which came with the Card?
Is it possible that I have a defective tuner?
Regards
padraig
