You don't need a Windows version for that.

The plugin should (and many other plugins too) provide a web interface. It is possible to register an URL with the built-in webserver, and then from a PC on the network (that could run Windows or any other operating system) the user can interact with the plugin.

It can use normal web forms to input selections and other data, and that usually is much more convenient than from the remote control.
(e.g. when you would want to have a textfield to enter a user-chosen name for the satellite, it is much easier from a PC with webbrowser than from the dreambox remote).

Developers of utilities for the dreambox should consider this method instead of writing a Windows-only program, that needs to be installed on a PC.

Lightbulb making more usefull favori

I don't know if my suggestion is appropriate with the subject of this thread (so excuse me if is it).

My suggestion:

a script to generate user bouquets by criters (FTA, scambled only, satellite,....) or better than this, using a kingofsat database witch containe more information (category, language of service....)

I trayed to do this using DreamboxEdit but it is very difficult to understand all those files generate by this soft and theire definitions....with kingofsat page is difficult to import html table to excel ou cvs files...

thinks

Nice work on the satellte .xml !!!

Could you please add accurate listings for Echostar 110W and Echostar 119W. With the currant satellte .xml non of the tv or radio services show up. And yes I'll gladly test any new settings
you have for tehse birds.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

I would very much like to see PROXY support with this utility.
that way, I can download via satellite instead of &*^*&^$ dialup which is 10 times slower.. thanks! -t

Two quick suggestions:
1) The ability to specify a proxy (it seems to ignore wgetrc) so we can download the satellite data using our internet-via-satellite connection.

2) Multiple download threads?

thanks for this great tool!

Exclamation

Has anyone really looked at the contents of satellites.xml?

I mean, the first satellite contains all data from the following satellites.

Thus: I check Eurobird and the Astra 2's, Astra 1's and Hotbirds.
This results in:

on 28.2 E:
Eurobird having the data of Eurobird and all Astra 2's

on 19.2 E:
Astra 1B having the data of Astra 1B, 1C, 1E, 1F, 1G, 1H and 2C

on 13.0 E:
Hotbird 1 having the data of Hotbirds 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6

Ergo: the file is effectively almost twice the size it should be!

Other than that it works like a charm :-)

Marc
