floppy cardserver newcamd

hello i`ve been discussing with jpm about this and he said to continue this in an open thread not a bad idea ofcourse !
But stay ontopic

here`s what we wrote earlier

regards barry

did you start it by calling it up like this: ./cardserver.i386 ?

yes i thirst tought that i did not correctly placed the cardserv.cfg file but that was not the problem , i got it running on a debian machine in no time so perhaps you are running a different version of fli4l ?

regards barry

In fact I'm now using COYOTE LINUX

So i tried today al day working with COYOTE , looks nice but i`m keep getting not found i`ve placed cardserver.i386 in /bin en cardserv.cfg in /etc cardserver.i386 is chmodded to 755 and started with ./ but all i get is -sh: ./cardserver.i386:not found
thats the same error i get with fli4l en with serveral other cardserver versions is there anything else you use with this setup ? because i`m out of cleu`s

regards barry

Please ask in open Forum

i will type a howto manual if i can make one .
but what files am i missing ?
I asked this in a dutch forum but nobody can give me an answer.
I think he misses something but what ?
you said you had fli4l and coyote working with the newcamd cardserver but with what files

To get newcamd running you need at least the cardserver.i386 and newcamd.i386 and the corresponding .cfg files!!!

Again please ask in the open so that others also can benefit from your questions and my answers or answers of others!

So here we go

@JPM the newcamd.i386 is not neaded when i use a live cd like knoppix3.3 the only files i needed to get that working was the cardserver.i386 and the cardserv.cfg .
Anyway i`will try to get that on the floppy but i guess it will require to much space

regards Barry

Hi Barry,

cardserver and cardspider are dynamicly linked. So they use external libaries.
IT could be that there are some libaries missing on your system.

look if you have the follow files on your disk.
/lib/libcrypt.so.1
/lib/libc.so.6
/lib/ld-linux.so.2

P.S. no need to run newcamd on the same system.

I hope this helps,
scanner

Could not get my server working from a single floppy so installed Fedora. On the advice from Barry put cardserver.conf in the etc folder and cardserver.i386 on my desktop. System works fine, only serving one card at the moment but will add more ports next week.

Not much to say about configuration. The server is an old Pentium 1 PC with a 2nd hand 40GB Hard drive. Video is a Matrox G400 AGP card. and have a floppy and DVD reader fitted. There is no sound card.

Downloaded the DVD version of Fedora and booted from it. It formatted the drive and installed itself. I selected the options of installing a Server with the KDE desktop.

Pluged my two Pheonix readers into the computers 2 serial ports. Inserted cards and then started cardserver.i386 from the terminal window. Now serving two cards and working fine.

After all that I just realised you may be asking about my cardserver.conf file. If so just ask again.
