Re: funny box which can work with dm500 record
What your showing is a (NAS) Network Access Server, this one apparently only uses an external USB drive for storage. Which can be easily remover for attachment to another computer, if needed. It's a good device for storing files, so they're accessible by any computer on your lan, where only one computer, or, device need to be active to access it.
Most likely could also be setup for access to the outside world.
No reason I see it wouldn't allow you to record from you Dreambox, maybe even use it for multibooting the Dreambox system, without needing the computer to be running at the same time. I just bought a similar that uses an internal hard drive and has a USB 2.0 port for a hub or additional drive. The unit your showing appears to have some limitations on file systems it capable of reading. If it reasonably priced it would be a neat toy, you set up and kind of forget.
