Internet connection with router

undefined I am using a D-Link Gateway Router connected to an ADSL modem

I want to connect my Dreambox 7000 directly (without my PC) to the Internet.


LAN Settings :
IP Address 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server Enabled


Internet Settings :
Connection PPPoE Connected
IP Address x3.x4.x.xx9
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway x3.x4.4.xx9
DNS x2.2xx.1x.4 x2.xx5.1x.xxx

My question is what do I enter into the dreambox communication setup ?????
My setup :
IP: 192.168.1.10. Netmask: 255.255.255.0.
Type: LAN
Nameserver: 192.168.1.1.
Gateway: 192.168.1.1.
Configure Network: X
Port: 80

With the above settings I can ping the dreambox from my PC, open a TELNET or FTP session. Everything working fine in my LAN environment.

But if I attempt an internet connection - software update for example, I get the message "Can't resolve host name".

No way to connect directly to the Internet...

I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Hi,

Your setup looks OK. The only thing I can think of is that your router does not proxy your dns server. It happened on my Dlink router as well.

In your dreambox, change the DNS setting to x2.2xx.1x.4 and try again.

If that works, go into your router and try to see whether the DNS proxy option is enabled.

Yep you have a DNS problem

Type 194.125.133.11 into your dns settings on your dreambox

it's easy to see if the router proxies dns:
look at your pc's ip configuration (assuming you are using dhcp), and if gateway and dns addresses coincide, it is.

now i remember that dhcp on the dreambox (some images? all? i'm not sure) has a problem that requires you always enter dns address manually.
