Problem wit DVB-C

Hello all

I've had a 7025 for sometime now ....... can't say i've been over impressed with the receiver, but recently I found and image (latest Ronaldd) that i quite liked for my Set Up.

I have Tuner A set up as DVB-S and Tuner b set up as DVB-C and everything was looking fine ..... then DVB-C started freezing/stuttering momentarily ..... signal was good at 95% but BER went very high.

I've swapped over card to Tuner A and still the same ..... I've tried a different cable feed ....... still the same. I've even tried a new DVB-C card ...... and still the same

So now I am at a loss ...... has anyone else experienced problems with DVB-C cards ??? or can offer any suggestions.

I'm thinking along the lines of something has changed with the actual feed to the house .... and these tuners are more sensitive than the one in my D-Box ... which is working fine.

I have tried other images too ....... without success

Regards

Matty

Re: Problem wit DVB-C

Ok ..... after a process of elimination I found the fault was to be the cable splitter.

£1.80 ..... later, everything ok again

Re: Problem wit DVB-C

I have the DVB-C setup but have never seen anything down it. I have Virgin-Cable for broadband, but do not have a degital receiver from them. (I use sky) Is there anyway of getting the card to work from the broadband cable, which i have always assumed was the same as the tv feed (I have analogue cable once, down the same cable)

Cheers

Re: Problem wit DVB-C

Hi m8...

Yes you can do this by splitting your cable feed before it connects to your modem. One leg out of the splitter then goes to your modem and the other to your dvb-c card in your box.

You then have to configure the tuner to scan but to do this you need a bruteforce cables.xml file. Do a search for bruteforce on here and you will foind the file.

This file then needs to be ftp'd to the correct directory on your box ... reboot and then you will see brutforce as a provider. You can then scan and pick up all channels ... Only your FTA channels will be clearing at the mo' so you need to surf to find the latest keys ... once installed then you are away.

I am currently running the latest Ronaldd image ... and it's very nice too ... With a Gemini image I only found the Rev 1.7 would scan cable ok.

Hope this helps

Matty

Re: Problem wit DVB-C

I now have cable, many thanks. The only problem now is to get a stable image. I have Gemini 3 and 3.1 but they keep loosing connection out to the tv. I have to restart enigma to get my picture back.
I tried ronald image, but that was missing my blue menu option that allows me to update and download manually. and switch between cams. I do not seethis in ronald image.
