Video/Audio format?

If you want to convert video files to watch them on the DB, what is the video/audio format and a good tool to use?

Re: Video/Audio format?

As I descovered yesterday you can't even copy a TS file from 7000 or 7020 to the 7025. Also the recordings of the 7025 can't be played if you have only the ts file. You need also the .ap and the .meta files.
If you edit the ts file and copy it back to 7025 with the .ap and .meta files it will not play also.
tested with Gemini2 v1.10

You can convert a mpg file to ts with vlc , but you have to wait for someone to write a plagin to crate the other two files with the ts.

Well, I guess that's becasue they have different CPUs and therefore they might be differnt in terms of how they load data into their registers, you know "Little Endian", "Big Endian". I don't know about the details of the CPUs, but I do know that 7025 uses an ATI Xilleon which is a MIPS based design.

I could copy the file to my PC and I could play it with VLC and JetAudio, but each recording had also a couple of smaller files that I did not copy, but I could still play it.

How do you go about converting with VLC? Is it the "File/save as" approach?

No the problem isn't with the CPU. The ts file is just the same. I had played one to a 7020 and it was ok. The problem is with the movie player of the 7025 and the fact that it needs the small files you mentioned.
Try this. Copy a ts file from your dream with all small files to your PC.
Delete them from your dream.
Copy back only the TS file to your dream.
Try to play it. You will have a blank screen.
Now copy back to your dream all the other files and try to play it agan.
It will play perfectly.

Unfortunetly I have not try to convert a video file to TS but must be a gui in the internet. Try google, but check also www.doom9.org and www.videohelp.com

Re: Video/Audio format?

Am I to understand that the only way to get video files working with DB7025, is to convert them to one specific format?

DB being linux based hardware, I'd think adding new codecs and thus circumventing this wouldn't be such of an big deal. Info on the subject would be appreciated, even if it is just to tell me why this is.

Re: Video/Audio format?

Did you try to demux the file and make it mpeg pes??
I believe that the box could play the file if in mpeg format, and not TS.
Beside,i sent some files to a friend in TS format, recorded from my 7000,they did play fine.
You might be having some other problem??
