If by HD you mean High Definition, then here is what I've understood thus far

Seems that the processor is able to handle the HD streams. However since the 7025 does not come with an HDMI or DVI plug, this means it cannot display the stream in HD, so it displays the stream in SD (Standard Definition)

On another note, if by HD you mean Hard Drive then the 7025 can handle a 3.5 inch IDE Hard Drive. Dream Multimedia recommend using Seagate, but I can assure you that everything single brand and capacity I have tried with my 7020 has worked falwlessly.

You can have HD with video component conectors if they are present on the scart and with the proper signals.

Re: Hd with 7025

DM7025 only supports hdtv in mpeg2... And real HDTV is mpeg4... There's the problem... So when all HDTV channels start broadcasting in mpeg4 there will be black screen :/

While the 7025 is obviously reducing the stream for SD playback.. is the recorded stream the original higher resoution?

Re: Hd with 7025

Guys there is here a bit of confusion.

1- HDTV means that the image is transmited in more than the regular 640 lines usualy 1080 either interlaced (1080i) or not (1080p).

2- If now with the normal DM7000 throught a PC you can stream and record a HDTV channel and later if you played it on the PC it has taht resolution of 1080 lines the 7025 is capable of doing the same and even better insted the 7000 black screen it shows image.

3- The enconding method for those working channels now is MPEG2 like all the other digital sat channels the diference is the image lines (like I said before), if in the future they figure out that MPEG4 is better for HDTV (since for now everything is tests only nothing 100% official) off course neighter DM7000 or DM7025 or other normal sat receivers not equiped with a mpeg4 demulator are going to be capable of any image !!!

Now for me that I have a DM7000 and a Pioneer plasma TV the right question is:

If the DM7025 can show the image of a currente HDTV channel and if connected with a SCART cable (since doesn't have HDMI conector) and using the component video signal pins (witch is a sort off better RGB signal and can handle at least resolutions of 720P (1080i also, I think) ) is able to pass that info so the plasmas tv's that decode HDTV signal throught component connections shows the proper 1080i or other lines resolution ???

Anyone tryed, knows the answer?

Re: Hd with 7025

I have a DB 7025 and it works fine in HD mode. For the moment I can see the demo of Canal+ and a couple other demo.
It is connected throught component connections with my plasma tv.
The stream is around 18 Mbit/s !
If they finaly (which is more likely to do) adopt mpeg4, then I presume that wil not work, since 7025 has only mpeg2 capabilities.

Re: Hd with 7025

Interesting, what about the original 7000 with component connections, would it also work ? How do you that the data stream is 18Mbit/s ?

How do you tune in to the Canal+ demo channel ? Did you try TPS too ? HDTV is definitely MPEG4 but I guess it has be sent through MPEG2 for now anyway by both C+ and TPS.
