Mine arrived yesterday.. I fitted a 250Gb drive and connected it to my LAN and dish.
The UI is fairly basic in places and still needs much polishing. My 5620 with Gemini still looks much sleeker.. then I recall how crap the original factory images looked on the 5620.. so time will tell.
I setup the satellite feed with DiSeqc particulars, set the 2nd tuner to "nothing connected" or something like that and did a search for programs. Found everything on my the LNBs and did some recording tests onto the internal hard-drive. Worked fine.
Then I rebooted, holding down the previous channel button on the receiver and got it into boot into its 1st stage boot.. displays the DHCP IP address on the LCD and then used a browser to get at the receiver and upload the latest image as detailed in
http://www.dm7025.de/.
Worked, rebooted and setup the LNBs again.. this time however not a single channel was found and the Enigma info bar was showing very high signal levels (98%) and BER measurements of 8000 etc.. several reboots later, no luck, still failed to find a single channel during a search. Reverted to the older image and then to one of misc Hazem images from IHAD.. still no luck.
Then saw in
http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/bo...p?threadid=247 that the issue was seen elsewhere and "patched" with an alternative python script to copy over the original and after a reboot all worked fine again. Turned out to be an issue with a voltage level on the LNBs.
Over my wireless LAN, I'm getting about 1.1Mb/sec each way for FTP transfers and also for samba (the hard-drive is exported as a guest share by default in /etc/samba). So the recorded files are transferrable. I'd assume the rates are higher on a better 100Mbit LAN... 1.1Mb will transfer 1Gb in about 15 mins.. so we're talking 30 mins per film if I record something and wish to retrieve off box for editing and DVD burnage.
However, the recording format now uses a xxx.ts and related xxx.ts.meta file.. and so by transferring down existing mpeg files, I was unable to get these to show in the video list. The list is not like the traditional enigma file mode.. so again its limited until someone comes up with a file browsing facility. I tried hacking in a file by copying an existing .meta file and renaming etc.. but nothing showed up even after a reboot.. so either is seeing .ts files only or this is just not going to work until the variant images take control.
The fact that Enigma2 uses python is intriguing as this will allow for quick patching of UI and settings issues.. it also more or less guarantees that it will take some time for the alternative images to port or remodel to the new architecture.
I have yet to see if previous favourites etc are usable on the new enigma2 layout.. but I'm certainly going to try it at somepoint over the next weeks.
Overall it looks promising but is still very much in beta.
Update:
Tested the UHF modulator tonight.. the picture is fine but audio is a little fuzzy.. in the past with my 5620, this was remedied by setting the audio sub-carrier from 5.5 to 6.0 or something like that.. these settings are present on the 7025 UHF settings menu but have no effect even after reboot.. so there is no doubt an issue here also.
